ITOYA is a well established Japanese giftware company which opened its flagship US store on Union Street in 2009.  Rosenbach Construction was chosen as the primary contractor for their modern sensibilities and high quality craftsmanship.  The space was completely gutted from the interior and refinished with hardwood floors and custom display racks.  The building was from the pre-1906 Earthquake era, and although it withstood the Earthquake, the entire building leaned a few degrees to one side and was never re-shifted.  All of the interior finishes therefore needed to keep this in mind, making for a very challenging job of leveling all floors and shelves.  Many of the original items and finishes were also refurbished to maintain the building’s turn of the century charm.
